 Community Service Award Recipients
Sergeant Kathryn Trueheart
Sergeant Kathryn Trueheart is an investigator at the Vicksburg Police Department. She was born and raised in Vicksburg, MS. Policing has always been a passion of hers, so after graduating high school, she knew what field she wanted to go into. Sergeant Trueheart has worked with the Vicksburg Police Department for 9 years. For the last 3 years, she has been assigned to been assigned to be over the Lieutenant Beverly Prentiss Domestic Violence Empowerment Program.
Sergeant Trueheart not only oversees misdemeanor reports and protective orders, she also investigates all felony domestic violence crimes including, but not limited to, strangulation and aggravated assaults. Her passion is helping victims become survivors. She goes above and beyond to help these victims get the justice or help they need. Sergeant Trueheart is being presented with the Purple for Peace Community Service Award because of the effortless time and commitment she puts forth with victims of domestic violence.
SSgt. Justin Deuel
SSgt. Justin Deuel is assigned to the 81st Training Support Squadron (TRSS) where he is a member of Qualification Flight (Q-Flight) Keesler AFB, MS. SSgt. Deuel is responsible for curriculum development of continuation training for the Cable Maintenance career field and assists with the other Cyperspace Support career fields. SSgt. Deuel enlisted in the Air Force on 14 February 2012 as a Cable and Antenna Maintenance apprentice. He has deployment in support of OPERATION INHERENT RESOLVE.
Staff Sergeant Deuel has picked up countless furniture donations for the women and children of domestic violence shelters. He has also moved many families out of shelters into their forever homes. His continuous help and support of the staff and residents of Gulf Coast Center for Nonviolence is truly invaluable. His genuine care for residents of the community shows through the service he humbly provides.
