“Our students have been selected for prestigious national fellowships, and over 9.82% of the graduating class of 2020 secured federal judicial clerkships” In my five years serving as Dean of the University of Mississippi School of Law, I have had the opportunity to travel all across the region to get to know many of you. We are so grateful for the passion our alumni have for the law school. Our faculty and students are doing amazing things, and it would not be possible without the continued support of our alumni and friends. It has been another extraordinary year at the UM School of Law. Despite the challenges we all have faced over the last few years, our students have exhibited grit, grace, and adaptability. They continue to excel at their studies, advocacy board competitions, scholarly writing, and service to the state of Mississippi. Bess Fisher, 2022 grad, was declared a winner of Baylor’s The Closer, the nation’s most challenging transactional law competition. Our Trial Advocacy Team brought home its first ever national championship from the Florida National Trial Tournament. With the help of our alums and corporate partners, our Business Law Fellowship Program is thriving as it provides a truly unique opportunity for our students. Additionally, we are competitive with some of the top law schools in the country when it comes to job opportunities. Our students have been selected for prestigious national fellowships, and over 9% of the graduating class of 2020 secured federal judicial clerkships. And our most recent graduating class continues to land prestigious positions across the nation. Additionally, UM Law is a top-ranked school for diversity and access. Our alumni also continue to make us proud. Jamie Grosshans was sworn in to the Florida Supreme Court, and four UM Law alums were recognized as part of the inaugural 40 Under 40 Class. Several of our graduates have become judges, legislators, and leaders over the last few years. Thanks to our generous alumni, we have been able to provide our students with educational programming, scholarship opportunities, and so much more! We’re also proud to announce our student wellness program was recognized by the ABA with the E. Smythe Gambrell Professionalism Award in the summer of 2022! And those are just a few of our most recent accomplishments! The facilities and programs at UM Law are truly transforming the lives of future lawyers. With the launch of the university’s Now and Ever Campaign, alumni support will help advance UM Law in our mission to educate the future of our profession and provide even more opportunities for our students. Thank you for being a valued part of the UM Law community. I look forward to seeing you next time you’re in Oxford. Hotty Toddy! Sincerely, Susan H.
