 Response
AND CALL TO ACTION
Thanks to the incredible effort put forth by League volunteers, the Junior League of Jackson was able to continue to fulfill its mission and meet community needs during a year in which community volunteering initially seemed impossible. Despite the limitations caused by the pandemic, the League remained focused on fulfilling its mission and dedicated to serving the community.
JLJ CARES INITIATIVE
JLJ Cares was an initiative created to provide members with optional, additional volunteer opportunities to serve our community and meet real needs in real time. In addition to our already established community projects, JLJ Cares initiatives included:
In the spring, the League hosted a two-part virtual Community Roundtable for its community partners and other nonprofit organizations in the community. In part
1 of the series, Dr. LaShaunda P. Massey spoke on leading with mindfulness and resilience in a culture of change. During part 2 of the series, yoga instructor Tarrah Lockhart discussed practicing self-care through yoga and meditation and led participants through some basic yoga poses and breathing.
