 CHILDREN'S HEALTH
The Children’s Health impact area uses strategies that provide access to nutritional foods and increase knowledge on the benefits of healthy eating and being physically active. Efforts in this area include a pantry program, education series, and activities that promote movement and physical fitness.

Volunteers assist in planning three different monthly programs for families of children, in conjunction with the Center for the Advancement of Youth (CAY) clinic at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, Operation Shoestring, and Jackson Public Schools.

JACKSON BACKPACK & SCHOOL PANTRY PROGRAM

Volunteers provide approximately 150 students with a backpack filled with nutritious food to take home each weekend during the school year; volunteers also stock the school pantry with fresh produce and staple foods each month.

RECREATION, ENRICHMENT & ACTIVITY FOR CHILDREN’S HEALTH (REACH)
CHILDREN’S OF MISSISSIPPI
Volunteers read, play, and provide arts and crafts
to patients struggling with being in the hospital. Volunteers will also serve as role models for parents and caregivers who might not have effective skills for interacting with their children in play.

EARLY LITERACY
Early Literacy volunteers work primarily
with elementary school students, exposing
them to language and print resources to
help students read at grade level. We also
provide support to teachers, which ranges
from tutoring students to awarding grants for
classroom needs.
